“When we’re not getting along or if I’m upset about something, we always try to go out to dinner to discuss it. I think being in a public setting helps us to act a little better. It doesn’t get too heated, there’s not a lot of yelling, and the server can help break those incredibly tense moments. Also, I make a list of why I’m upset, but I start the list with all the things I love and appreciate about TJ.

It’s really hard to stay angry with someone when you’re having to list all the reasons you love them. And sometimes, this alone will make me realize that the reason I was upset was actually stupid and TJ deserves an apology.

Either way, writing it down helps to stay clear and concise and avoids going down long, exhausting rabbit trails that ultimately have nothing to do with why I was upset in the first place!”
