“I’ve been married to my wife for 15 years and dating her for 21 years. I love being married to her and every year just seems to get better and better. I would attribute the state of our marriage to a few major factors.
First, we see the purpose of our marriage being the call to reflect the image of Christ’s relationship with His Bride, the Church. It isn’t primarily about our happiness or security, but about modeling the sacrificial love of Christ to the world around us, about dying to ourselves for the purpose of loving and serving one another, even when it is most difficult and least deserved.
Second, I would say we don’t take ourselves too seriously. We love to have fun, to play games, to laugh at ourselves when we do something stupid and to laugh with our kids as much as possible. As of late we have enjoyed some intense games of Capture the Flag with Nerf dart guns in our home. Lastly, I would say the state of our marriage has a lot to do with the fact that we have fun with our sex life and we do it often.”
