One of the best things you and your hubs can do on a regular basis, especially if you have kiddos, is to have a night away in a place that’s pretty and practical. When you don’t have the window, or finances, to fly out and actually vacation, a fun solution is a staycation.
Staycation: a vacation spent at home or nearby.
One of our favorite places to stay in Austin is Kimber Modern. It has honestly become our home away from home! Here are the top reasons you should stay here if you’re in Austin or even just visiting.

1. It’s far enough away from home to feel like a getaway. Sometimes the whole point of needing a “getaway” is because you need to look at something other than your current surroundings. You want to visually take in and experience something new. KM’s sleek, modern look and oasis feel hits both notes of feeling like you’re in another city as well as it’s lovely to look at. It also has keyless entry. How cool is that?! (and this chair is all the good things in life, lol)
2. There are only 8 rooms. That’s right! A boutique hotel with 8 beautiful rooms. There is zero hustle and bustle here. It’s not always quiet but it’s always peaceful. It makes a difference not having to “people” when you’re all peopled out. Plus, all of the rooms are incredible and plush. No, you don’t have to purchase the most expensive room to enjoy your time there, we’ve always booked the “simplest” room and I use that word very loosely! (We also love their shower products!)
3. Organic, fresh-made breakfast. Every morning there’s fresh fruit, boiled eggs, yogurt, granola, sour dough and sweet breads, jams, cappuccino, juice, etc. Sheesh. Now I’m hungry. Also, for the late nighters there are snacks, Italian soda, wine, etc. and all of it is included in your stay!
4. Close to delicious restaurants. I like to eat. Specifically delicious food and a place we have frequented, though there are literally TONS of incredible restaurants, is Perla’s Austin. It’s classy, edgy and in walking distance and when you’re vacationing (downtown), the last thing you want to do is think about parking. We have tried several items and each one was just as savory and yummy as the last. Here are a few we recommend.

5. Amazing Staff. Seriously. The staff is super friendly, thoughtful and helpful. We always have a handwritten welcome note in our room, we can communicate via text if we have any questions and the breakfast is freshly made every morning. They’re incredible at setting the atmosphere of the entire place. It’s peaceful and fun all at the same time. I have zero qualms about the staff.
