“Before we were married, a friend and mentor told me something that has stuck with me through our ten years of marriage — that marriage is rarely if ever 50/50. There will be seasons when marriage requires more from you than the other person may have to give. Sometimes it’s you giving 90% and the other person can only give 10%, depending on the season you’re in and the areas that you’re each working through at the time.
Looking back, this has definitely been true for us. Whether it was financial and we didn’t know when a paycheck would be there because we were starting a new business, or having a colicky newborn while experiencing postpartum depression — when one of us was lacking, we trusted God for the difference and He always provided for us, often through our spouse, and we were able to witness His grace in a new way.
Ultimately, if your marriage is centered on Christ, He will bring you through and you’ll receive His joy & peace in return.”
